TRANS-227 is a water-based, non-silicone antifoam emulsion designed to control foam in aqueous systems where the presence of silicone is not desired or is otherwise ineffective. TRANS-227 finds utility in a multitude of applications ranging from fuel ethanol production to food processing, and from wastewater to metal finishing. It is also an excellent antifoam for the suppression of foam within many oil-in-water emulsions, and is suitable for direct food applications such as wash water for sliced potatoes, and for the processing of beet sugar and yeast.TRANS-227 utilizes a fine grade of white mineral oil conforming to 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 172.878, as well as nonionic emulsifiers and ingredients that are recognized by qualified experts as safe in food products. As a food processing aid, TRANS-227 is considered a ‘secondary direct food additive’ and imparts no flavor, odor, or functional attributes to the food.TRANS-227 may also be used as an indirect food additive for the manufacture of articles or components of articles intended for use in producing, manufacturing, packing, processing, preparing, treating, packaging, transporting, or holding food and is approved for the manufacture of paper and paperboard per 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 176.170, 176.180, and 176.210. Specifications Packaging Options
TRANS-227 antifoams are available in 55-Gallon (gal) poly drums (net weight 450 Pound (lb)) and 5-Gallon (gal) High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pails (net weight 40 Pound (lb)). By special request, the following packaging options are also available: bulk tanker, 275-Gallon (gal) totes, 55-Gallon (gal) lined openhead or tighthead steel drums, and 30 or 15-Gallon (gal) poly drums. Poly drums are blue unless specifically requested.

TRANS-227 antifoam is stable and long lasting; nevertheless, the product should be protected from freezing and prolonged exposure to direct sources of heat. Should TRANS-227 freeze, thaw the product at room temperature with the container closed and gently stir once completely thawed. A slight change in appearance may result from successive freeze/thaw cycles, but performance will typically not be affected. Storage temperatures at or below room temperature are preferred, but not necessary. TRANS-227 antifoam emulsion is ultimately a perishable commodity and should be afforded an equivalent level of care. Use the product in a timely fashion after initially opening the container, and close tightly after use. Applied Material Solutions recommends that TRANS-227 antifoam be used within six months to a year.
