Replace Blades while The Belt Is RunningSeveral large North American mines maintain continuous operations by changing cleaner blades as the conveyor runs. Used with appropriate safety precautions, the MARTIN® Mandrel Mount allows the cleaner mainframe to be removed and blades changed while the belt is moving. Martin Engineering always recommends the conveyor be shut down for cleaner service. When it is not possible to shut off the belt, plant safety personnel should review any service procedure before it is started.Limits Downtime and Keeps Belt MovingEven if you shut off the belt to remove the mainframe, you can shorten the downtime. Merely slide a back-up mainframe onto the Mandrel Mount and re-start the conveyor. Then you can replace the blades on the removed cleaner at your convenience."5-Minute" Blade Change Because the blade replacement is performed when the mainframe is outside the chute, cleaner service is faster and easier.No Personnel Inside The ChuteAll service work can be done from one side, outside the chute work.
