Opticonx's PEK SERIES pulling eye kits protect pre-terminated fiber optic cables during installation in conduits, ducts or risers. Available to be used with 2 to 96 fiber cables, PEK SERIES saves time and costs by allowing the installation of pre-connectorized multi fiber cables. The pulling eye is strain relieved directly onto the cable's outer jacket, while housing the terminations in a protective sheath. As a result, no stress or strain is transferred to the terminations during the cable installation process. Available factory installed or in kit form for installation in the field.

Installation Instructions

Slide 7" black heat shrink tubing over the cable jacket. Slide the tubing down far enough to avoid interference with the termination cable.Note and proceed with cable manufacturers’ recommended procedure for removal of jacket(s) down to the bare fiber.Terminate the cable using the connector manufacturer’s recommended termination procedure. Note: You must stagger terminations in groups of 2 with at least 1" interval between groups.Insert the connectors fully into the pulling eye assembly.Tape the PEK strength members to the cable jacket, just above the point where the aramid yarn is exposed. Remove the strength member’s jacket to expose the yellow aramid yarn.Weave the aramid yarn around the cable jacket and tape the yarn ends to the cable jacket.Using a heat gun, shrink down bottom 1" job the pulling eye assembly (clear). Caution: Carefully apply consistent heat to the shrink tubing. Overheating may damage the cable jacket and shrink tubing.Slide the 7" shrink tubing (black) over the weaved aramid yarn up to the bottom of the pulling eye assembly and shrink with a heat gun.Sealant will appear at the ends of the shrink tubing. Let cool until hardened.Attach pull strink PEK Pulling Eye and install. Note: Do not exceed specified pull strength.
