The PowerRect 120 VAC Rectangular Electromagnet is designed for various applications, offering a robust pull capacity of 450 lb on clean steel surfaces. The built-in rectifier converts 120 VAC to 110 VDC, eliminating the need for an external rectifier and simplifying installation. It should be noted that the majority of installations use DC magnets with rectifier-controllers. The rectifier- controller provides the means for quick and clean release. The 120 VAC Electromagnets, due to the internal rectifier, cannot facilitate an electronic release function. An AC Electromagnet that is holding a part in direct contact and is de-energized without a release pulse can have up to 20 % residual magnetism. A 500 lb. capacity AC Electromagnet may not release a 100 lb. part cleanly, or at all, without a mechanical assist.
