ULTEA Negative Thermal Expansion Fillers are specially designed inorganic powders that display a unique characteristic of contracting in response to increasing temperatures. When incorporated into glass or resin materials, these fillers effectively control thermal expansion, enhancing the overall stability and performance of the end product. With a precise diameter of 1-2 µm, a coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of -2 x 10^-6/K, and remarkable heat resistance up to 1000 ºC, these fillers provide exceptional functionality in various applications. Safety attributes include low toxicity and confirmed safety through rigorous examinations, making them ideal for industrial use.

Mechanism Of Negative Thermal Expansion Mechanism Of Negative Th
ULTEA® has an interesting feature that contracts upon heating rather than expanding as most materials do. According to data of lattice parameters of ULTEA® analyzed by XRD, C-axis expands while A- and B-axis contract upon heating. Considering the volume change, it is calculated that ULTEA® contracts upon heating on average. This feature is thought to depend on its special kind of crystal structure, Zr-O-P bond changes its angle by heating. ULTEA® shows reversibly-change of lattice parameter, so its negative thermal expansion appears unless its crystal structure is collapsed.
